I would recommend trying the 4 different set up options to see which suits you the best. Once you have the neck of using the neck stretcher you will love it’s simplicity and portability, especially if you suffer neck neck tension and headaches.
- The NeckSaviour isn’t completely square, one side is slightly longer than the other giving a set up choice for a long and a short neck Stretch. Try both and see which fits best.
- There are also 2 neck stretch intensities. Using the NeckSaviour black side facing up as shown in the image, gives a strong stretch. Having the white side up gives a lighter stretch.
- To active the NeckSaviour, simply fold it over into a U-shape. That can be done using your hands, trunk or a leg but you need to hold it like that as you place it under your neck. You can place one edge towards the front of your shoulders and fold the NeckSaviour into a U-shape as you lye back, positioning the other end at the base of the skull.
- Lye on your back on a comfortable but firm surface with the NeckSaviour under your neck, the open side facing up with the top edge at the base of the skull and the bottom on top of the shoulders.
- When using the Necksaviour, before you let go ensure you fully relax onto it. That helps to maintain the U-shape via the blocking position of the head and shoulders.
- Try making ‘micro-adjustments’ in the positioning of NeckSaviour by gently rotating and side flexing your head until you feel necksaviour is positioned correctly and comfortably.
- If you feel the NeckSaviour slipping or starting to flatten, lift you head and reposition it. You may need to alter the angle slightly to get it right under the lip at the base of the skull.
- After use clean with store flat and clean with skin-friendly disinfectant wipe if needed. Do not leave under heavy objects for any period of time – this may indent the Necksaviour and affect it’s effectiveness.
How Long and Often Should You Use The NeckSaviour?
Start using the NeckSaviour gradually so you don’t overstretch the neck. Start with 2mins at a time up to 3 times a day. Increase this by 1min each day up to 15-20min maximum per session.
The NeckSaviour can be used to help give relief whenever you get headaches or neck pain. It is also a great preventative tool as part of a maintenance programme.
Some find using the NeckSaviour very relaxing. To ensure you don’t fall asleep and end up in the NeckSaviour for too long, set an alarm for the intended amount of time.
- When using the NeckSaviour you should feel a comfortable stretch or mild discomfort at most but no pain. You may be aware of pressure at the base of the skull/top of the neck and on the muscles at the top of the shoulders (Upper Trapezius) where the NeckSaviour is making contact.
- You should NOT feel any dizziness, nausea, light-headedness, double vision, increase in pain, pins and needles, numbness, weakness in the neck, back or limbs: headache or difficulty swallowing. If such symptoms occur contact a qualified health professional
When NOT To Use The NeckSaviour
Using the NeckSaviour is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- Acute or traumatic injury
- spinal instability, or fracture
- severe rheumatoid arthritis
- spinal cord compression
- infections or inflammatory diseases
- vertebrobasilar artery insufficiency
- any other condition which could be worsened by movement particularly distraction.
